OTHER WAYS TO GIVE
This space highlights some creative ways in which individuals and organizations can help NORD fulfill its mission. For additional information, contact our Development Office at (203) 744-0100.
Make a Donation in Honor or Memory of Someone
You can honor or memorialize a friend or loved one with donations sent to NORD through the mail or made online. Another option is to create an online tribute to someone through NORD's Tribute Garden.
Support Research on a Specific Disease
Donations can be earmarked for research on a particular rare disease. When a fund reaches $35,000, NORD will issue a Request for Proposals. Also, NORD is able to administer research grants for other organizations that have raised money but don't have the resources to oversee a grants program.
Goodsearch
Goodsearch (www.goodsearch.com) is an Internet search engine with a social mission. It is used like any other search engine, but each search counts toward a charitable donation for a non-profit organization designated by the user. While each search is valued at jsut one cent, those pennies can add up. There is no charge to the Goodsearch user or to the designated charity. NORD is already listed as a Goodsearch charity.
Support NORD When You Buy Flowers Online
FromYou Flowers is an online flower delivery service that is based in Old Saybrook, Ct. It is the largest Teleflora member in the U.S. with annual sales exceeding $24 million. It has a charity affiliation program, which NORD has joined. Through this program, donors can purchase items 24 hours a day, seven days a week, via a tollfree number or online. When someone making a purchase on this Web site enters NORD's reference code (785), NORD will receive 20% of the purchase price of the item ordered. Donors who use this link to the site will automatically have their purchases credited to NORD.
Students Raise Money for NORD
The National Student Speech, Language and Hearing Association (NSSLHA) raised more than $19,000 for NORD in its "NSSLHA Loves" program. Each year, the association's executive committee selects one national charity to support with fund-raising projects. Last year, NORD was selected for this honor. There are 12,000 members of NSSLHA and 300 chapters at colleges and universities throughout the U.S. The students raise money through projects such as car washes, dance marathons, and bake sales. NSSLHA is a pre-professional membership organization for students planning careers related to the communication sciences.
Purchases Made Through www.iGive.com
NORD supporters who make purchases online at www.iGive.com can designate NORD as their charity of choice to receive a small percentage of the purchase price. To visit the more than 600 shops on the web site, go to www.iGive.com.
