Brain Metastases Originating from Breast Cancer
Allos Therapeutics, Inc., is currently conducting a Phase 3 study comparing
the effect of whole brain radiation therapy with supplemental oxygen with or
without the experimental drug EFAPROXYN in women with brain metastases originating
from breast cancer. Enrollment in this study is currently ongoing at several
U.S. cancer centers.
This drug causes red blood cells to make more oxygen available to tumor tissues
in the brain. Research has shown that oxygen-deprived areas of brain tumor are
resistant to radiation, and that radiation therapy may work better when more
oxygen is present in tumors. Information is available at www.allos.com
or by writing to Allos Clinical Affairs at medicalaffairs@allos.com.
