The Arc is the largest organization in the United States that is solely devoted to improving the lives of all children and adults with cognitive, intellectual and developmental disabilities. The organization offers support to families affected by these diabilities and fosters research and educational programs on the prevention of mental retardation. The Arc is committed to securing opportunities for all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. To this end, the organization emphasizes personal opportunities for choice in education, housing, employment, and entertainment. The Arc is further committed to reducing the incidence and limiting the consequences of disabilities through research, advocacy, and mutual support. It provides a wide variety of educational materials for parents, teachers, healthcare professionals, and others. Many materials are available in Spanish, and most are free downloads online at
