The International Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia Foundation (IWMF) is a non-profit support and information organization for individuals with Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia (WM), a malignant lymph and blood cell disorder characterized by one or more of the following symptoms: abnormal enlargement of the liver and spleen (hepatosplenomegaly), weakness, anemia, fatigue, and excessive bleeding. Established in 1994, IWMF publishes a monthly newsletter that provides information on current therapies and clinical evaluations. Comprised of more than 2,300 members throughout the world, the organization also offers a telephone support networking service and provides support and understanding to individuals and families affected by WM. IWMF also maintains a database containing information regarding WM, medications that may be used to treat the disorder, and updates on ongoing clinical research studies. The organization sponsors an Internet discussion group.
