The AMEND: Aiding Mothers and Fathers Experiencing Neonatal Death is a non-profit organization dedicated to offering support and encouragement to parents who are having a normal grief reaction to the loss of their baby. Established in 1974, AMEND offers a free counseling service to parents who have experienced the loss of an infant through miscarriage, stillbirth, or neonatal death. All counselors have been trained via professional leadership and are on call 24 hours a day. All information is confidential and no names are disclosed. Counselors are available whenever grieving parents have a need to talk. Counselors do not dispense medical advice or information. It is through listening, understanding, and caring that they are able to assist in easing the pain of neonatal loss. Educational materials include a brochure titled, "AMEND, A One-on-One Peer Contact for Bereaved Parents."
