The DES Action is a non-profit organization offering information, physician referrals, and a quarterly newsletter to help those exposed to the synthetic hormone DES (diethylstilbestrol). DES was given to prevent miscarriages. Later, studies showed it caused health problems for the mothers who were given it and the children they were carrying. Research is underway to see if problems extend to DES grandchildren, as well. DES Action offers a toll free hotline (800 337-9288), promotes DES research and encourages public education. DES Action publishes a quarterly newsletter, the Voice, which is of particular interest to those in the DES-exposed community.
