Chesterfield, MO 63005-4236
The Hydrocephalus Support Group, Inc., (HSG) is a non-profit, self-help organization dedicated to providing information and support to individuals and families affected by hydrocephalus. Hydrocephalus is a condition characterized by inhibition of the normal flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within the brain. This fluid build-up can cause pressure, which can be damaging to the brain if not treated promptly. Hydrocephalus is treated surgically by inserting a piece of flexible tubing called a "shunt" into the ventricular system of the brain. Founded in l986, HSG provides information, engages in patient advocacy, offers networking, promotes interaction with other hydrocephalus organizations and conducts meetings with speakers who address the many concerns of hydrocephalus and related conditions. HSG provides brochures explaining hydrocephalus, a newsletter and other helpful information.
