The Bipolar Disorders Information Center (BDIC) is a web site on the Internet dedicated to providing current information, support, and resources to affected individuals, family members, and mental health professionals. Bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive illness, is a mood disorder characterized by episodes of serious mania and depression. An affected individual’s mood usually swings from episodes of mania to depression, and back again, with periods of normal mood in between.
