The British Columbia Neurofibromatosis Foundation, Inc. (BCNF) is a membership-driven organization that provides education, funds research to improve treatments and find a cure, and supports individuals who have neurofibromatosis and their families. Neurofibromatosis type 1 is a rare inherited disorder characterized by the development of multiple benign tumors on the covering of nerve fibers and the appearance of brown spots and freckles on the skin. Neurofibromatosis type 2 is a rare inherited disorder characterized by the development of benign tumors on both auditory nerves and in other areas of the body.
