The Australian Chronic Pain Association, Inc. is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing a support network across Australia for people affected by chronic pain and their families. The Association has several objectives including offering community based activities and facilities that benefit affected individuals, assisting in educational and vocational training to improve the quality of life of those affected by chronic pain, and promoting public awareness and understanding. To fulfill its mission and objectives, the Association provides referrals to chronic pain support groups across Australia, engages in community service and volunteering, and focuses on disability and health issues. In addition, the Australian Chronic Pain Association has a web site on the Internet that offers contact information on chronic pain support groups, a fact sheet on chronic pain, definitions of medical terms, and links to additional sources of information. The Association's web site also provides networking opportunities to online visitors including a guest book area and a discussion forum.
