The vision of the International Society of Nurses in Genetics, Inc. (ISONG) is "caring for people's genetic health." The mission is to foster the scientific, professional and personal development of members in the management of genetic information. This is achieved by providing a forum to promote the integration of the nursing process into the delivery of genetic health care services; incorporating the principles of human genetics at all levels of nursing education; promoting standards of practice for nurses providing genetic health care services; advancing nursing research in human genetics; providing a forum for dialogue with other members of the nursing, genetics and lay communities; promoting the incorporation of genetics into health care for all persons, which includes addressing the associated ethical, legal, societal and personal issues; and providing a forum for continuing education of its members.
