Norman, OK 73070
The mission of the Children's Interstitial Lung Disease Foundation is to provide support, education and hope to families affected with a pediatric interstitial lung disease and to advocate and raise funds for scientific research. Interstitial lung diseases (ILDS) are a diverse group of diseases caused by inflammation and scarring of the air sacs (alveoli) and supporting structures in the lungs. There are two general categories: those resulting from identifiable causes and those resulting from unknown (idiopathic) causes. Children with ILD often have a sensation of shortness of breath, which can be mistaken for asthma. Other frequent symptoms include cough, rapid breathing, cyanosis, and exercise intolerance.
