The Progressive Familial Intrahepatic Cholestasis (PFIC) online site helps PFIC patients and their families through family support programs, education, and research. They also have a forum where families can communicate with each other. Progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis is a heterogeneous group of autosomal recessive liver disorders characterized by early onset of cholestasis that progresses to hepatic fibrosis, cirrhosis, and end-stage liver disease before adulthood. Cholestasis is characterized by poor bile flow and build-up of substances in the liver that should be put into bile.
