The Sibling Information Network is a national non-profit organization that was founded in 1981. The Network was established to assist individuals interested in the unique needs and concerns of families of persons with disabilities. In addition, it functions as a clearinghouse for information relating to brothers and sisters who have a sibling with a disability. Educational materials produced by the Network include a listing of sibling groups and programs, an extensive bibliography of articles relating to sibling issues, and booklets entitled "Issues Relating to Developmental Disabilities: A Bibliography for Families" and "Children's Literature for Sisters and Brothers of Children with Special Needs." Guidelines for starting sibling programs and a list of videotape resources are also available from the Network.
