The International Foundation for Gender Education (IFGE) is a voluntary organization dedicated to promoting self-definition and free expression of individual gender identity. IFGE values individual uniqueness and dignity, respect for human diversity, and the respect, acceptance, and protection of gender-related human and civil rights for all. The transgender community includes all who cross dress or who otherwise depart from gender norms and all others who wish to join. Established in 1987, the IFGE produces a variety of educational and support materials including videotapes, audio tapes, and print materials as well as a regular journal entitled "Tapestry," which provides a forum concerning gender and related social issues. IFGE also provides financial support to projects such as "International Conference on Transgender Law and Employment Policy" and sponsors an annual convention.
