The Alzheimer's Disease Education and Referral (ADEAR) Center is a service of the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and National Institutes of Health, dedicated to providing information about Alzheimer's disease and related disorders to the general public, patients and their families, and health professionals. Established in 1990, ADEAR seeks to investigate the basic mechanisms of Alzheimer's disease, manage the symptoms, and help families cope with the effects of the disease. The organization maintains an online bibliographic database of materials and resources. This database is available to the public as the "Alzheimer's Disease Sub file" of the Combined Health Information Database (CHID) and is a valuable resource for health professionals, administrators, social service workers, and caregivers. CHID contains information on patient brochures, fact sheets, books, journals, audiovisuals, directories, and posters.
