General Discussion Acoustic Neuroma is a benign (non-cancerous) growth that begins at the 8th cranial nerve, which runs from the brain to the inner ear. Any disruption of the signals sent along the 8th cranial nerve will interfere with hearing and with the patient’s balance. .
