HOW TO INTERPRET YOUR SEARCH RESULTS
Reports may be downloaded from this Web site. If you are viewing this page at
an institution that subscribes to NORD's database, you have unlimited access
to all reports.
Articles are not available online. To obtain an article, call NORD at (800) 999-NORD (6673)
and ask to have it sent through the mail.
Search results labeled "Other" indicate topics that are listed as
related disorders.
Reports are written in understandable language and can be printed from this web
site. Articles cover topics that are not currently included in NORD’s Rare
Disease Database and will be sent through the mail. Articles may be in technical
language.
Abstracts of disease reports and information about patient organizations are
available free on this web site. NORD encourages patients and family members
to contact the organizations listed as resources for additional information.
Full-text versions of NORD reports provide information beyond what is available
in the abstracts. If you would like a full-text report, you can download it from
this web site for a $7.50 processing fee. The fees charged for NORD reports and
other publications support maintenance of this web site and other services for
individuals and families affected by rare disorders. NORD’s programs and services
include the following:
- Information about rare disorders
- Referrals to support organizations
- Publications to enhance awareness among medical professionals
- Patient networking
- Advocacy on issues of concern
- Research grants and fellowships
- Medication assistance programs to help patients obtain certain
life-sustaining drugs they would not be able to afford
(If you have not received any reports previously, you can call 800 999-NORD to have one report sent free of charge through the mail.)
NORD is not a government agency. It is a private charity that was established
in 1983.
